Clinical Evaluation of the Anesthetic Effect of Diphenhydramine in Quince Seed Mucilage Base

Background & Aims: The topical anesthetic effects of diphenhydramine combined with ingredients such as aluminum and magnesium hydroxide have been used for many years in modern medicine. Due to the limited durability of anesthetic mouthwashes due to saliva secretion and the spreading use of herbal and natural medicines in pharmacotherapy, this study was designed to formulate diphenhydramine in t...

Formulation and Evaluation of Hydrogel-Thickened Microemulsion For Topical Delivery of Minoxidil

The available minoxidil formulations for topical application suffer with major drawback and requires repeated application. The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of microemulsions and microemulsion based hydrogel-systems (MEHs) for increased percutaneous penetration of minoxidil. Minoxidil microemulsions were developed by conventional titration method using oleic-acid as oil, twe...

The Effect of Formulation Type on the Release of Benzoyl Peroxide from Microsponges

Benzoyl peroxide (BPO) is a first-line topical treatment in acne vulgaris, and it is superior to antibiotics, because the bacteria do not develop resistance to it. Skin irritation is a common side effect, and it has been shown that controlled release of BPO from a delivery system to the skin could reduce the side effects while reducing percutaneous absorption. Therefore, the purpose of t...
